Memorial Hose Load

WE ALL CARRY THE LOAD

Since our inaugural event, we have not allowed equipment in the stairwells...but some rules were made to be broken. A North Texas firefighter decided to bring a section of hose (highrise pack) and carry it on September 11th, 2011.

During the climb, this hose was passed back to almost every climber to carry for a short time on it's journey to the top.

During the reception following the climb, the hose was passed around again, this time, to get the signatures of all climbers. From that moment on, the Memorial Hose Load has been a tradition of the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

Each year, a different department provides the hose to be carried and then displays the hose at their department following the climb.

DOES YOUR DEPARTMENT WANT TO SUPPLY THE MEMORIAL HOSE LOAD FOR OUR NEXT EVENT?

Before you volunteer your department, consider these requirements:

  • You must be able to permanently display The Memorial Hose Load at your department following the climb.

  • A picture of the hose on display must be provided to the climb - we will display that picture and the story of it in our Legacy Area.
